Branch from a saved result.

Try another direction while keeping the original path.

Start creating in Chat ↗

A new path starts at the version you chose

Illustrative launch email: the first draft is useful, but you want a shorter opening.

Choose the root

Open the saved document and select its exact revision. Name a branch from that result, then write the alternate request on the new path.

Keep both directions

The original path and its output remain available. Switch back to review it, or continue on the branch and compare the new result with the starting version.

Branching changes the path, not the earlier result

A branch records where the new work began. It does not rewrite the source artifact. When two candidates are ready, use Compare outputs to make the choice explicit.

Example AskGL request

Choose Writing · on chosen branch
Shorten the opening of this invitation to one sentence. Keep the approved date, time and venue unchanged.

Replace sample facts with approved details. Source selection and later review, comparison or packaging happen in the workspace, outside the prompt text.

Creation notes

Prepare your starting point

Choose the exact result that should provide the starting point. A branch keeps another direction separate from the original path, so explain what should change and which facts or visual qualities matter. Confirm source and context before preparing the next request.

Creative Chat
Review what you keep

Compare the revised candidate with the original using the difference you intended to test. Keep both paths if they serve distinct audiences or layouts. Branching organizes the work; it does not certify quality or automatically select a final asset for delivery.

Common questions

Does this decision require an AI prompt?

Use the comparison, selection, review or branch controls for the decision itself. A subsequent generation is a separate request with its own sources and quote.

Does this expose the entire workspace?

Private permissions remain in effect. A guest review grant or selected delivery is bounded to its intended material, rather than general access to unrelated work.
